You can sell your books on Amazon
Most people have visited Amazon and looked at all the books, electronics and other things yu can buy there. Many will have bought books, and know what an easy, seamless process it is. But many don't know that Amazon is open to anyone to sell books, either new or secondhand. I have bought lots of books from Amazon and it's the place I automatically go to when thinking of buying a book; the prices are always very competitive, the buying process is fast and easy, and the book always arrives in a day or two, perfectly packaged. Then I bought a new copy of Richard Dawkin's latest book, The God Delusion, which, when I examined it without the paper cover, turned out to be a faulty copy, with the cover put on the wrong way round so that if you opened it with the title showing at the front, the book opened at the back! A not uncommon problem with book printing, but one usually sorted out at the printers. I emailed the publishers to point this out in case there was a batch of them similarly assembled backwards, not complaining, but just as a gesture of friendly assistance. They responded immediately, apologised profusely and promised to send me a perfect copy as soon as possible. They didn't want the other book back, so I decided to sell it on Amazon. I already had a buyer's account, and it was easy enough to add a seller's account to it, the addition of my bank details made it easy for me to be paid directly into my account. Two hours after putting the book up on Amazon's site, I received an email informing me that it had been sold, the money was in my account and would I send the book to the address of the buyer enclosed! The book was duly sent. Since then I have also sold the second copy after first reading it [a really good read I recommend to all], and several other books I had had around for some years. Currently I have about ten awaiting sales, some of them collector's items, as was the Encyclopedia of Typefaces, just sold for £40 plus postage. It's been years since I consulted it and I thought I might as well turn it into cash and make some space. You probably have similar books you have reador no longer use. Amazon's site remembers me whenever I visit and logs me in. It has a record of all books I've sold, bought and have for sale, it takes a few seconds to add another. Self publishing authors could use it for selling their books, although no publicity is done, so unless the book is on a popular subject, it's unlikely searches will find it. But for well known, collector's volumes, Amazon is definitely the place to sell them.

I definitely see amazon as the preferred mechanism to sell books over any other site.
