Spring is sprung
With a few false starts spring is finally here in the UK, and the trees, always the slowest to respond - they've seen it all before - are all budding, the birds are all singing and rushing about gathering material and nest building, the Earth is greening again. We are past the snowdrops which appeared more than a month ago, closely followed by crocuses and then daffodils, all precursers to spring, now the real surge starts, sap rises and bulbs awaken from their sleep to rise again into the air with their gifts to the bees and to the delight of any species with colour vision. Soon, the countryside will take on a softer hue as tree buds turn to leaves, the greybrown of winter softening into many shades of green, patterning the countryside. The annual cycle begins again, new growth, new life, new hope, Renewal. |
